Scammers are everywhere, and they’re getting smarter by the day. It’s not just about clicking the wrong link anymore. They’re targeting your emails, phones, fuel cards, and even your load bookings. So, let’s break it down. Here’s how we stay ahead of the game at DOXA LLC and what you need to watch out for every day on the road.

Emails

Just because it looks real, it doesn’t mean it is. Did you ever get those emails saying: "Your payment is overdue", "We did a service for you, please send payment", "Here’s your invoice” - for a subscription you don’t even remember signing up for? We did! At DOXA LLC, we get hundreds of these a month. Almost each email sounds legit, but one wrong click, and DONE you could be tracked, hacked, or infected with a virus that could shut everything down.

DOXA LLC ADVICE:

  • NEVER OPEN AN EMAIL, YOU DON'T RECOGNIZE!
  • Receiving an email from Gmail, Yahoo, or Hotmail is a huge red flag. Legit businesses use company domains, not free accounts!

Websites & Apps

Scammers don’t just send emails. They set up fake websites and apps that look completely legit. You think you’re logging into your bank account or a trucking portal, but instead, you’re handing over your details to a scammer.
DOXA LLC advice:

  • If you don’t recognize a website or app, don’t use it.
  • Always use a VPN when checking sensitive info, like your bank account.

Paying over the phone

We receive many calls from people pretending they are our DOXA LLC drivers, saying that they did repairs for us, or any other things that could be real. They sound professional, but guess what? It’s fake.
DOXA LLC advice:

  • Never pay anything over the phone without calling the number from your own records, not the one they gave you.
  • Double-check invoices and never rush into a payment.

Saving Credit Cards on Websites

We get it, typing in your card details every time is annoying. But saving your credit card info on a website? That’s just waiting to get hacked! It takes seconds to type in your card manually, way less time than dealing with fraud.
DOXA LLC advice:

  • Never save your card information.

Booking Loads

This is hurting us badly nowadays. Scammers use almost legit emails, rate confirmations and phone systems to get us into their trap.

  • For example, if a company’s main email is This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., they get a domain with trucking.us and you won't notice the difference. How can we catch them? Call the main number from FMCSA and ask to talk with that specific broker and/or to check his direct line and email if it's the same with what you have.
  • They often offer higher pay to lure you in. That’s the trap - money is the bait.
  • Another red flag? They only communicate by email. No phone calls.

DOXA LLC advice:

  • Always call the broker’s main number listed on FMCSA, not the one in the email.
  • Confirm the email and phone number match their official records.
  • If you get scammed, call the shipper and receiver ASAP – they must pay you directly.

The “You Hit My Car” Scam

Ever had someone claimed you hit them and ran? We did! These scammers try to shake us down, hoping we’ll hand over your insurance info without a fight.
DOXA LLC advice:

  • For all the above reasons we run dashcams in all our DOXA LLC trucks. Some drivers even have 360-degree camera setups.
  • We have a clear, strict accident procedure and we don’t engage with scammers.

Fuel Fraud

Scammers hack fuel cards and this happens weekly. We use RTS Fuel Cards and FleetOne and we have put a new system in place.
DOXA LLC advice:

  • All drivers must deactivate their fuel cards after every use.
  • Cards only get reactivated right before fueling.
  • We use the Pilot/Flying J app to pay inside the truck - no swiping, no risk.
  • We try to avoid swiping the card and encourage using the smart app.

Remember, scammers never stop looking for new ways to trick people. They’re getting better, faster, and more believable. That’s why you should always stay alert and double-check everything.
