Everywhere you look, the world is under pressure. The Iran war is shaking oil and diesel markets. The Ukraine war continues to keep fuel, trade, and supply chains unstable. Venezuela remains a major energy question mark, with oil policy, sanctions, and political changes affecting global supply. When the world gets hit like this, fear spreads fast. But in trucking, fear and opportunity often arrive together.
We have seen this with our own eyes for 13 years. When the pandemic started, people panicked, but freight moved and many trucking companies got busy. When hurricanes and major disasters hit, the same thing happened: confusion for many, work for trucking. Right now, diesel is painful again, but freight demand is also improving and capacity is tightening. That matters.
YES, DIESEL IS UP
Fuel costs are higher, and nobody in this industry needs to be reminded what that means. U.S. on-highway diesel reached $5.375/gal on March 23, 2026. It puts pressure on every mile, every load, and every decision.
But here is the part many people miss: high fuel is bad only when you have no freight. High fuel with strong demand is different. If loads are there, wheels are turning, and rates firm up because capacity is tighter, disciplined carriers can still win. That does not mean everybody wins. It means the people who stay focused, stay legal, stay available, and work hard usually come out ahead.
THERE IS ANOTHER SHIFT HAPPENING TOO
Fewer trucks. Fewer qualified drivers. More pressure on the market. That means less competition for the carriers that are ready, organized, and still standing strong. So what should we do now?
DON’T PANIC, WORK
This is not the time to get lazy, emotional, or distracted. This the time to push harder, drive smarter, answer the phone faster, book better freight, watch costs closely, protect cash, and stay available. When the market gets nervous, the serious people gain ground.
DON’T FORGET TO PRAY
Let us also be honest about something else. In all these conflicts, people are dying. Families are suffering. Wars are destroying lives. We should not become cold to that. We should pray. We should help. We should give. We should support real causes, real people, and real action. If someone truly wants peace, then do something real for peace. Build something. Donate. Volunteer. Organize. Defend life. Just posting anger on Facebook does not change the world.
Help where you can. But do not use world problems as an excuse to become weak, lazy, or negative. If you cannot change the battlefield, then go win your own field. Go to work. Push harder. Be grateful. Be sharp. Be real.
